About
Trained in Jewellery Design and Silversmithing in the historic Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, UK, Hayley Volkering creates unique, handcrafted jewellery that tells a story of artistry and individuality.
Each piece is created using an ancient method of casting with cuttlefish bones washed up on the beaches of the Mornington Peninsula.
In Celtic mythology, the cuttlefish is associated with Brigid — goddess of fire, inspiration and healing. Every piece carries its own unique patterns and markings, embracing the irregular textures of the natural world.
Hayley works on Bunurong land (Mornington), preserving traditional jewellery-making techniques in pieces designed to be worn, weathered and loved.
